Welcome to the comprehensive case study on Supply Chain Analytics in Power BI, designed for Tenate Industries. The mission is to assist in making crucial make versus buy decisions for various products. Starting with a pre-loaded dataset and an initial data model, the goal is to transform data into actionable insights that guide supplier selection and cost analysis. Supplier selection involves calculating full costs, including one-time and per-part expenses, to determine the most economical supplier. A preliminary report will showcase the supplier with the lowest full cost for each part number and quote combination, providing a detailed cost breakdown and visibility of all supplier quotes. Using DAX parameters, a scenario planning tool will be developed to calculate full costs for varying production volumes, including non-recurring expenses. Visualizations will help analyze the lowest-cost supplier across potential production volumes, with enhancements based on supply chain team feedback. Additionally, full costs for internally manufactured parts will be calculated, considering capacity and capital investments, and incorporating excess production demand and capital investment costs into the Make option. The final step is presenting a comprehensive Make versus Buy scenario planner report, integrating feedback from the Quality team regarding supplier issues and their cost impacts. This case study provides hands-on experience with Power BI, focusing on real-world applications in supply chain management to help Tenate Industries make informed, strategic decisions.
